It's official......Delanie has her driver's permit! :) She just finished two weeks of driving school. Each morning, she woke up early - during Summer break, no less! - and biked about five miles to school and then back again. She never complained once.
Driving school in Minnesota is completely different than driving school in Texas. When Garrett went in Mansfield, they did classroom time plus behind-the-wheel time. He even took his permit test at school. In Minnesota, you have thirty hours of classroom time but absolutely no behind-the-wheel training. Strange, right?
On the last day of class, the kids are issued a blue card (see above) that they take to the DMV. So......Friday came, she received her card and then we headed to the DMV for the test. Little did we know that we were just starting a completely stress-filed afternoon.
We got there just in the nick of time. We arrived about 3:15pm and they stop testing at 3:45pm. After standing in line for the test, we found out that she needed her passport as a primary source of identification. We frantically called Jim (he keeps her passport in his briefcase). Bless his heart.....he left a meeting and got to the DMV with 3 minutes to spare! He's our hero!! :)
Less than an hour later, she took the picture above. She now has her permit and is ready for driving lessons. The question we have now is does she drive my brand-new BMW or Jim's brand-new truck????
